Caturday Art-Snowshoe Pyschedelic Kitty

Good Morning dear readers,  We are participating in Athena Cat Goddess cat art hop.  It has been a crazy week.  I finally went back to the vet and it was not fun.  I did get my shots after I terrorized the techs.  Yes I bit someone, but I was scared and they understood that and didn't hold it against me.  I'm too cute to get mad at for very long.  Mom says I need to behave.  We still have a mystery.  I've vomited every Sunday for last 3 weeks and no one knows why?  I have to eat baby food tonight and see if I vomit tomorrow or not cross your fingers.  Mom finally tried a new photo program thanks to kitties blue for suggesting it. It's called dreamscope and its so cool.  So here's this weeks photo.  The first one was done in HDR on Picmonkey.  The second photo was done in dreamscope.

here's a link to my freebie that redbox sent me go get a movie this weekend for free.

National Independent Bookstore Day

Good Morning dear readers,  Saturday is going to be one of my favourite days of the year besides holidays.  It's National Independent Bookstore Day and what does that mean-SALES.  Lots and Lots of lovely books will be available for the taking.  My local independent store (Dimples) is having a B1G1F starting today through Sunday.  But I've been told this is a national event at all Indie stores.  So you need to check your stores to see what they're doing for the event.  Here's some tips to get the most bang for your buck.

1.  Bring trade books and get store credit to help get more books

2.  If they have a frequent buyer card i.e. stamp card when you have 10 stamps get free book up to $10.

3.  If you have swag bucks cash them in for bookstore or visa saves money.

4.  Take recycling in and get cash.

That's it for now enjoy your books.

Yard Sale Season Has Begun

Good Morning dear readers,  I found a yard sale near the house.  I went with the intention of trying to get some trade books for the Big National Book Store Day(I'll have a separate post about this later).  I was able to find some other really nice things without spending alot of money. So here's what I got for about $6. This post may contain affiliate links see disclosure in footer.

This is just a lovely foot stool that's great for your arthritis.

This is going to be an upcycling project. I think I will paint it a nice blue color.

I haven't done much in the altered book art. This book will get me started back doing it again.

So check out those yard sales a lot of good deals to be had.  I also picked up 16 books at this yard sale and will be trading them at the local bookstore.  Have a great day.

Caturday Art-Snowshoe May flowers Kitty

Good Morning dear fur buddies, it has been a rough week.  Mother called the vet again because I was horking everywhere for a day.  They put me on nasty pink stuff(amoxicillin) which I did not like.  Then mom finds out the annual inspections are coming up soon, which throws her into a tizzy.  She starts cleaning everywhere spraying carpets and everything.  After all this she finds that my lower face is a little more puffy then usual.  She's taking me to the vet next week.  She figures its either the shrimp cat food or the carpet spray that I'm allergic too. She made me take a bath and removed the shrimp cat food. My face looks better this morning.  Pray for my mom's sanity and that I don't hork all over the uber car again.  This photo boy was holding me and his hands got into the picture.  He wanted mom to hide his hands.  She went to pizap and put these lovely flowers around my face. Enjoy your weekend.

P.S.  mom ordered the calming spray cross your fingers that no one touches the you know what?

Spring Time Smoothie Recipe

Good Morning dear readers, we are playing with the blender this week.  I saw this lovely Persian smoothie on the savoire site and wanted to play with the main ingredient--cantaloupe.  I love the color and taste of cantaloupe.  The health benefits are great for treating anxiety and stress and with the vitamins can help prevent a host of diseases.  It's also a great anti-inflammatory agent. So here's what I came up with to add to your recipes:

1/2 cantaloupe cut into pieces
1 cup strawberries
1 cup pineapple juice must have that bromeline

Put all of your ingredients in your blender and add some ice cubes.  Crush and blend and then pour into your favourite glasses and serve.

Frugal Microwaveable Bean Soup

Good Morning dear readers, love this recipe I found on Bush's Black Bean can.  It's simplicity is just lovely. You probably have everything in your pantry to make this quick and easy soup.  Instead of cooking on the stove top, I tried it in the microwave. Not a lot of standing involved, so fits my physical limitations.  It turned out just perfect with a sweet taste to it. It also gives you the fiber you need in your diet.  Here's what you'll need to make this recipe and yes I changed it to fit my families needs:

2 cans Bush Black Beans (15 oz) undrained
1 cup chicken broth
1 Tablespoon Chili Powder
1 can Tomato Sauce (15 oz)

Take one can of beans and proceed to mash with potato masher.  Then add your other bean can mix well.  Then add broth, tomato sauce and spice.  Mix up and place in microwave and cook for 5 minutes.  Serve with your favourite topping can even be served over rice.  Bon Appetite

Which masher do you prefer wire or plastic would love to know?

Fun Thrifty Finds

Good Morning dear readers,  my son and I went and did a little thrifting at our favourite store.  It was their monthly 1/2 sale.  I went with the intention of looking for clothes but ended up with some really nice treasures.  All total I only spent around $13 everything was less then $2 or only a quarter.

This first piece I thought I would add to my cat collection (much to Frankie's horror).  I was pleasantly surprised to find it's actually a music box from the San Francisco Music Box Co. and plays My Favourite Things just lovely.

I just love the color and the marks on the bottom stated trade mark coronet Czechoslovakia registered. I will have to do some research on this one don't have my mark book any more.  Anybody have any info plmk.

My son claimed these plates. They are marked with Willow ware not sure of the company.  I believe its Doulton (can't check he's put them away).

My son picked up this Greek looking vase

We also picked up books and various crafting supplies i.e. rubber stamps and embellishments.  This is a good way to get items for the kids for summer break.  Check out your local stores and share what you got would love to see it.

Caturday Art-Spring Time Flowers

Good morning furbuddies,  its has been a harrowing week.  Vet visits and moms new phone getting trashed made it really crazy.  Mom said she's excaping to the thrift store for some goodies and I should behave for the boys.  I'm still on antibiotics for my snotty nose plus the prednizone.  Mom found out that Walmart has the Himilayan Salt Lamp.  It's supposed to get rid of the allergens in the air and she'll get me one.  Mom played in her favourite programs picmonkey and pizap. Have a great weekend and if you like this please follow us on our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/lorraine2448
