Conversations with a Psychic

Good Afternoon dear readers, I ran around all morning and now its time to post.  I went to old Folsom this weekend with Conor.  I love the old timey shops and one of the reasons we went is some of them are shutting down.  We wanted to see them one more time.  Anyways Conor wanted to go to Planet Earth.  This is the alternative health store with the lovely crystals and chimes.  Yes, they even have psychics who give readings.  I was talking to one of them really interesting conversation.  Did you know their is a sequel to "The Secret" and its called "The Power" it goes beyond the first book and tells you how to use your emotions to get what you want in life.  The psychic told me about a fun exercise to do to increase your positive nature.  So I'm going to share it with you.  You get the dictionary and a notebook.  You go thru the book starting from the beginning and write down all the positive words and their meaning.  Start using these words in your daily life and even in a gratitude journal.  I've started mine of course its going to take a while but its an interesting thing to do.  So many positive words you will be surprised.  So check it out and have fun with it.

Frugal Family Food--Moo Shu Wraps

(contains amazon affiliated links see disclosure in footer)
Good Afternoon dear readers,  Sorry food post have been off schedule this week.  It's still been pretty crazy around here. Your gonna love this recipe its really easy with the short cuts I've taken to insure it's that way. If you want your kids to eat veggies give them the wraps.  They will love them.  My son Conor is not a big veggie eater and he loves these wraps. I found the recipe in Family Circle magazine and I've adapted it to fit my family.  So here it goes and this is what you need.

this can be made with pork or chicken

use 1 lb boneless pork chops cut into strips/ I used Tyson grilled and ready diced chicken
2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 small head cabbage cored and shredded/ I used a bag of Cole slaw same thing
1 bag shredded carrots 8oz
4 scallions sliced/ could not find used regular onions or have even made it without onions
1/3 cup Hoisin plus 2 tbsp
12 wraps or traditional tortillas

Mix 1 tbsp of soy sauce with your meat.  While your doing that let your skillet/wok heat up the oil.  When ready cook meat until no longer pink or if using frozen until heated through.  Remove from pan and keep warm.

Add your vegetables to skillet/wok using only half onion if using them.   Cover and let cook for 3-4 minutes.
Uncover and stirring let cook 5 more minutes.

Next return meat to pan adding the 1/3 cup hoisin and last tablespoon of soy sauce to mixture stirring constantly to keep from burning.  Cook 2 minutes.

Next warm tortillas either in microwave for 30 seconds or until warm in frying pan.

Take basting brush and put hoisin on tortillas and you can add onions if you used them and put meat/veggie mix in tortilla bon appetite and enjoy.

Sorry no series of pictures camera ran out of juice yesterday when I made them.  Still had some today so here it is the final product.

These items make it easy to make this recipe

Dollar Tree Valentines Tree Craft

Good Morning dear readers,  I loved making the tree at Christmas.  So I wanted to make one for Valentines Day.  It's basically the same method as the one at Christmas. Here's what you'll need to this make this tree.

Pipe Cleaner-red, pink, gold
Styrofoam cone
stickers-heart shaped

You will stick pipe cleaner in the cone and proceed to wrap around cone securing the other end in the Styrofoam.  You will do this until entirely covered with pipe cleaner alternating colors.  The top will be exposed cover with stickers overlapping until nothing exposed.  Take a piece of pipe cleaner and twist into heart shape and stick ends into top of tree.  Cover your tree with heart stickers and your heart shape at the top with stickers.  Viola your done nice little decoration.
