Caturaday Art-Kitty In the Roses

Good Morning dear readers,  It's Halloween morning and the boys are getting ready to party.  Mom is manning the door.  She wont let me out in the living room.  I get to listen to my favourite radio voice Delilah.  The channel she's on is called the Fish.  I don't know why I never smell any yummy fish or hear any fish flapping.  Well mom took the photo of the talky box and me and arted it up.  The first photo she used HDR in pic monkey.  Then she did a bubble overlay then added a rose border in pizap.  Don't party to much and drink to much nip or eat to much bonito flakes.  Frankie sending purrs and has mom says zen hugs.

In anticipation of the other holidays we are putting up the panel showing our Christmas ornaments for your viewing pleasure.

Happy National Cat Day

Good Afternoon all, we are a little late for national cat day.  It's been a busy morning getting ready for Halloween.  Boy had his tutor session today and I got a break.  Mom kept chasing me with the flashy box still trying to get a tock photo-can we say not happening.  Boy has this purple noise maker(speaker), he's been teasing me with it.  He has it make creature noises(Jurassic Park).  They're called Velaciraptors Frankie.  Yes mom I know.  Well give your kitty a extra special hug today.  Let them know they are loved that's what its all about. Here's my photos enjoy.

The bane of my existence and I thought the flashy box was bad.

Halloween-Scarilious Fudge

Okay here's the last Halloween recipe of the season.  This also qualifies has a  murder mystery recipe.  The name of the book is First Degree Fudge and its by Christine DeSmet.  Filled with murder mayhem and fudge.  The heroine moves back home to start over and ends up being blamed for a starlets murder. It even has a recipe for pink fudge.  It also had some interesting cooking tips on how to make fudge.  Foodies and Murder Mystery Fans you should read the book. It will keep you guessing until the end.  Here's one of the recipes from the book that has been altered to fit my families needs:  Note boys will love this recipe its got worms in it-gummy worms that is LOL.

12 oz package dark chocolate chips
1 cup milk chocolate chips
14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
2 Tablespoons of butter
8-10 grated or food processor crushed Oreo cookies
Bag of Gummy Worms

First off combine the chocolates with butter and milk.  Melt all ingredients in microwave-about 2-3 minutes.  Stir up and pour into greased 8x8 pan (you can put wax paper in it). I chose not to use the wax paper.  Only pour half then layer some cookie dirt then put a layer of worms,  Pour more fudge over it and layer again.  There you have it scary fudge with worms.  Bon Appetite

Note have a glass of milk on hand its not just chocolate its CHOCOLATE.

Mixed Media Halloween Pumpkin

Good Afternoon dear readers, I wanted to do one last minute craft for Halloween.  I fell in love with the all me cat pumpkin and wanted to do something like that one.  I couldn't think what to do and then I kept looking at my patchwork Halloween Cat and my pumpkin was born.  Here's what you'll need to make one for yourself.  If your into mixed media like me, you might already have spray inks love them even though a bit messy(hey anyone know how to get ink stains off of hands).

1 Styrofoam pumpkin
Varying colors of acrylic paint- I used kiwi, pumpkin orange, yellow and purple
1-Roll of Halloween colored Camouflage Duck Tape
1-small roll of Halloween duck tape
2-Spray inks-I used screaming grape and turquoise
1-Sheet of Halloween Stickers
Gesso and paint brushes

First off, gesso your pumpkin and let dry.  I filled in the grooves with varying colors of acrylic paint.  I then put strips of Camo Duck Tape all over it.  Then put little bits of the smaller tape around the stem.  I was having trouble getting the coverage with the tape the little one didn't want to stick.  That's when I decided to use the spray inks and let them drip all over it as it dried.  I took it out to the patio so the inks wouldn't get all over the house.  Let dry for about an hour and then place your stickers all over it.  All done and ready for display.

Caturday Art-Kitty in the Cauldron

Good Morning dear readers, we are participating in the Athena/Marie Caturday art hop.  Mom has been chasing me with the camera trying to take a photo of my butt for something called tock tober.  I am having nothing of it.  I move so she can't get a good one.  Older boy brought this home for Halloween Hunting and I had to immediately sit in it.  So of course mom got photos and made them pretty. I hope you like them and be safe on Halloween cause a lot of people hurt cats.  So make sure you stay in doors my fur peeps.  Zen Hugs and Purrs

Halloween Night Pizza Muffins

Good Morning dear readers, the holidays are upon us. Every year we always order a pizza.  This started when we lived in Kentucky and the local video store gave out free pizza on Halloween night. I  always try to make holidays special especially since I'm a single parent. This year I decided since the boys go to parties I would make a homemade pizza type dish.  The beauty of this dish it can be frozen and heated up later. I adapted this recipe from a taste of home to fit my families needs and tastes.  So here's what you'll need:

1 large egg beaten
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp. Italian Seasonings
1 tsp. Onion Powder
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup Mozzarella Cheese

Combine egg, pizza sauce, bread crumbs and seasonings.  Add meat to ingredients and mix it all up. Grease your 12 cup muffin tin and place meat mixture in the bottom and up the sides of cup. Fill center with mozzarella.  Preheat oven to 375 degrees and cook for 20 minutes or until meat is no longer pink.  Serve with extra pizza sauce or let cool.  The great thing is you can freeze for up to 3 months.

Note: when reheating let defrost in refrigerator for 24 hours then heat up in microwave for 2 minutes.

Domestic Violence-A little bit of my story and books you need to read

Good Morning dear readers,  we are going to talk a bit about National Domestic Violence Awareness month.  If someone had told me when I was growing up that I would be in a Domestic Violence situation I would have told them they were crazy.  Not knowing that I was already in a abusive situation.  I came from an abusive--verbally and emotionally abusive family.  This is actually one of the reasons I chose my husband because the behaviors were comfortable and familiar.  No one told us the warning signs when I was growing up.  Thank god they teach the warning signs now.  You can go into therapy after you've been in a relationship but it is never enough.  Therapist don't know everything,  I will give you an example my ex had this behavior the therapist didn't know where it was coming from its called the one upmanship game(found that out in the book the verbally abusive relationship).  I filed a restraining order.  He sent a private investigator after me.  Fun times dodging PI's in the back roads of Kentucky.  I filed for divorce.  He called the FBI and told them I kidnapped my kids.  Mind you I left him before their was a custody battle.  The FBI was going to come after me. I had to have my current attorney call them and explain the situation.  They were not thrilled with my ex-husband(they say abusers can talk any situation I believe it).  I've had strange people come to my attorneys office wanting information about me and my ex-my attorney told them to go hell.  Still don't know who they were.  Any ways be careful when your in any relationship.  I always tell women know yourself before and after an abusive relationship.  Like I said therapist don't know everything, so join a support group get the perspective from other women and read anything and everything you can get on relationships. These books tell you alot.  Here's a short list of my favourite books to help you avoid a situation or understand the behaviors if your in that situation.

1.  How to spot a dangerous man by Sandra l. brown-she talks about the personality types and how to avoid them.  Very informative and you can find it on amazon.

2.  Why does he do that by Lundy Bancroft- love this author gives so much information on the different personality types plus more resources in the back of the book-when I was teaching in college I would here the women flipping through this book exclaiming that's my boyfriend-scary.

3.  The Gift of Fear by Gavin De Becker-no this is not a relationship book but it teaches people to pay attention to their instincts sometimes that's all we have.

Sorry this as been a bit long.  You are your best defense read and learn to protect you and your family.

Caturday Art-Aurora Borealis Kitty

Good morning dear readers,  I subjected myself to mom's fascination with the flashy box.  I've let her get face shots of me and more action shots.  She gets really happy when the flashy box gets good shots of me.  Well I guess I make for a good subject.  But I still want to hid my head.  Do any of you furfriends ever just let your moms and dads take the photos without any problems.  Well at least she's not moving me and trying to get photos like that any more. Here's the photo we are sending to Athena Cat Goddess Caturday Art Hop  She used picmonkey and pizap today and they turned out good.  Enjoy everyone and Happy Caturday.

Frugal Halloween Table Display

Good Morning dear readers, this is my favourite holiday because of the decorating.  You can decorate even if you don't have alot of money.  A simple reuse of last years decorations and a few new pieces make it all look new.  So here's what I did,  I used burnished orange placemat got a set from a yard sale for a couple of dollars.  Pulled out the cornucopia and the black cat then added a new owl pirate from dollar store.  Then place the owl on top of the vampire pumpkin (made him from items found at dollar store).  Reused the poison bottles also a dollar store find.  Then put out some items from the thrift shop.  I only spent $2 for this display.  So see what you have around the house and mix it up with some new pieces.

If you would like to make your own vampire pumpkin here's the link:

Caturday Art-Gritty Art Kitty

Good morning dear readers, It's been a busy week.  Another annual inspection, mom hates those things.  She says she feels like she's being invaded.  Well we took another old photo and turned it into art.  Mom loves playing with the photo editing programs.  This photo was done at picmonkey and used the posterizing option in pink.  Guess what she already put it on a mug you can see it at the bottom of the post.

Good Morning dear readers,  I'm feeling so much better now.  Mom found a nice vet and I got meds.  I was even nice enough to let mom snap this photo of me with her pumpkin statue.  I like playing with the Halloween decorations.  Notice mom didn't put out the ghostie from a couple years ago, I had a battle with it.  Happy Sunday everyone and here's my photo with some Halloween embellishments.
