Frugal Ground Turkey and Mushroom Soup

Good Morning dear readers,  I liked the Beefy Tomato soup so much.  I decided to take the base of the soup and create another type of soup. This was so yummy and easy and I bet you have everything in your kitchen already.  This is all very quick cooking in your soup pot or dutch oven.  Don't you just hate it when a recipe says you have to have a certain appliance to cook something? That's why I like to give options to what you can use when making my recipes.  So here's what you'll need:

Ground Turkey used 20 oz.
1 can tomato soup
1 jar pasta sauce-you can still use Ragu,  I used Raleys brand
3 soup cans water
2 cups frozen chopped onions-generic brand
1 bag frozen sliced mushrooms-used birds eye recipe ready
1 Tbs. Garlic Powder
1 Tsp  Italian Seasoning

Brown your meat  adding onions as they are browning.  Drain off grease and add your other ingredients.  Stirring constantly let boil.  After boiling turn down and let simmer for 5 minutes.
When done serve with salad and sandwiches.  Bon Appetite.

Caturday Art-Frankies patterned shadow photo

Good morning dear readers, its caturday art hop today.  I took one of Frankie's photos from the feline crazies post.  It was a dark photo didn't know about pic monkey when I started blogging.  I wanted to play with it and see what I could make of it.  I lightened it up and then used Lomo technique on pic monkey and used the star pattern with it.  Then went with the smokey edges.  Hope you like this photo and feel encouraged to play with your not so great photos. Here's the arted up photo.

Holiday Oniony Bacon Crescent Rolls

Good Morning dear readers,  This is one of those recipes that has been in my head for awhile.  I made a recipe years ago while still living with my ex-husband using some form of onions in crescent rolls.  I could not remember what I used.  You know me I'm going to play with what I have available.  I ended up using onion dip on the rolls.  These are fun to make and they are so yummy.  This will probably be added to holiday recipe schedule.  This is the type of recipe that gives that little extra at a party or holiday gathering.  So here's what you'll need:

1-can of crescent rolls  8 ct.
1 jar onion dip
1-Bag of bacon bits from the salad topping isle
Basting Brush

Take your crescent rolls and place them on cookie sheet.  Dip basting brush in onion dip and brush all over it.  When done brushing sprinkle bacon bits all over it.  Roll crescent rolls long side first according to my son which worked out fine.  Place in the oven at 375 degrees for 9 minutes.  Should come out nice and golden brown.  Bon appetite.

Thrifty Crystal Finds

Good Morning dear readers.  its been very busy around the house.  The boys went on their annual Tahoe Trip.  So I did some research on opening a zazzle store with some of Frankie's photos on posters, mugs and magnets.  What do you think? That's why I've been a little behind with the posts.  I got to do a little thrifting while they were gone.  The little church thrift shop was having their quarterly sale.  I saw a lot of lovely things but opted to get only these lovely crystal classes.  I could not beat the price.  I paid a $1 for all four.  These will make great special occasion glasses.  What have you found this week?

The need to Create-Spring Art Page

Good Morning dear readers, finally finished another art page.  I really felt the need to create was experiencing some anxiety/stress episode.  Told myself you need to sit down and play and paint.  You know just the action of doing finger painting was very therapeutic.  I feel you have better control over the paint using your fingers.  You don't have to think just let your fingers do the talking.  I was able to use some happy mail I got on this page.  I used acrylics on the background bright magenta, lavender sachet and dandelion yellow.  Used rubber stamps roses and heart shape with roses just for you in red ink.  Glued on a lavender doily and fun summer hat and flower embellishment so cool.  Then I glued collage picture of flowers that stayed with the color scheme.  I had some buckling when gluing how does everyone prevent that from happening?  Then I rubber stamp and wrote spring is sprung.  Really felt the need to create feeling a lot better now.  Do you use your art to relieve stress and anxiety?

Frankies Surrounded by Heart Art

Good Morning dear readers, we are participating in the caturday art hop.  This is where you take your not so great photos and make them cool using pic monkey and other sites.  Well Frankie's photo was of him cleaning his little toes and it was kinda blurry.  So I did a texture over it using pic monkey.  I put a heart shaped frame (Conor's idea)  and used bright pink.  There you have a new photo.  Haven't tried it yet come on give it a try.  You never know what you can make from it.

Crock Pot Irish Potatoes

Good Morning dear readers,  are you getting ready for St. Patrick's Day? Nothing says Irish like a good potato recipe.  This recipe just tastes so yummy.  Talk about ease of cooking this one is very simple and easy and fits in the crock pot. So no standing around involved and you know I love it when I don't have to babysit a recipe.  This recipe goes great with a pot roast which we had with ours last night and it was so good. I altered this recipe to fit my families needs.  So here's what you"ll need.

2 1/2 lbs small red potatoes quartered
8 oz cream cheese
10 oz can cream of potato soup
1 soup can of water
1 seasoning envelope of garlic and herb dry dressing mix
1 tsp onion powder

First off you will wash and quarter the potatoes and place in crock pot.  Then take the rest of the ingredients and mix them up in a bowl and pour over potatoes.  Put crock pot on high for 3-4 hours.  Check occasionally with fork for doneness.  Serve with your choice of meat so yummy and tasty.

Generational Chocolate Cake

Good Afternoon dear readers,  here's is the third recipe from "The do or diner series".  Originally it was called a wacky cake but I did some research on this cake.  This recipe was handed down from generations to generations and first appeared during the depression.  This is were homemakers had to get creative in making their baked goods because their was no milk and eggs.  To get a chemical reaction in the cake they used vinegar and baking soda.  I was really surprised you can't taste the vinegar at all, nothing but chocolatey goodness. I was intrigued because the murder mystery talked about it being a regional cake.  I'm from the pacific coast and had never heard of it.  Anyone else here of a wacky cake.  If you haven't checked out the murder mystery its a really good story dealing with family, history and of course murder.  I've adapted this recipe to fit my families needs.  Oh almost forgot this recipe is perfect for those of you who are allergic to eggs and milk.  Hope you enjoy it please hit the yumm button on the side bar thank you.

Ingredients:

2 2/3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tsp. vinegar
2 cups water

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes

Mix dry ingredients in mixing bowl i.e. flour, sugar, cocoa, salt and baking soda.  Pour into ungreased  9 x 13 baking pan.  Make 3 deep depressions be careful Conor had the oil spill out a little.
First depression put 2 tsp vanilla.  Second depression put 2/3 cup vegetable oil. Third depression put
2 tsp vinegar.  Pour 2 cups water over everything and mix well with a fork. Then bake in oven until done. You can sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Sunday Selfies and Frankies secret

Good Morning dear readers,  Frankie here and mom made me do it.  She made me take a selfie and expose my embarrassing secret.  I use, I use a steam pot (vaporizer) gasp!  My boy took me out on my leash yesterday and my allergies acted up.  So mom said I could sit in the bedroom with my steam pot and listen to NPR on the pink box.  God forbid she had it on some channel that had screaming humans that sounded like my fellow fur friends with their tails caught in the door.  I put my paw down it must be NPR.  Well anyways you know my secret.  I'm so ashamed.

He'll stick his head over the bed to breathe the steam

Journal 52 prompt TV

Good Evening dear readers.  here's another page I loved creating. The prompt was TV and I used collage elements to make this page.  I started with mosaic blue and then smeared on lavender acrylic paint.  Then I rubber stamped the tree of life and clock faces.  This begs the question Is TV timeless. I collaged an old building and then gesso'd over it and used the tower as sort of a TV stand to hold the tv up for your inspection.  I rubber stamped script onto the tv.  I rubber stamp flowers in red and yellow ink to relieve some of the blue.  Then rubber stamp and wrote parts of the Is TV Timeless.  Edged the page in red oil pastel.  Their we have a fun page enjoy.

W.I.P. Frankies Smeared Art Page

Good Evening dear readers,  I got the new camera and now I can post some of the posts that have been pending.  Here's that art page that Frankie smeared while using my body has a bridge to the window.  I'm saying its a work in progress not sure where I want to take it.  I started out drawing the lines and then used colored pencils, oil pastels and my new favorite gel pens,  This was a lot of fun making.  What do you think should I work on it some more or say its finished.

Here's where Frankie smeared the page
